In 2017, over 350 students from throughout the school division gathered at the Bold Center in Lac La Biche, prepared to compete in an interactive science competition known as the Science Olympics.
The Science Olympics are held annually and test the scientific minds of students through a variety of puzzles and challenges.
“Science Olympics is an amazing opportunity for our students,” said Board of Trustees Chair Mandi Skogen in 2017. “They get to take everything they have learned at school and work together to create something and solve a problem. It’s so much fun to watch them focus on the challenges and see how excited they are to compete.”
Crucial to the success of the Olympics are the many organizations that generously offer to partner with Northern Lights Public Schools and sponsor the event.
“Local businesses, community groups and individuals have very generously dedicated their time and energy to help make this event a success,” said Skogen. “We can’t thank them enough for taking the time to help us provide this amazing experience for our students. We really would not be able to provide this opportunity to our students without the support we receive from our sponsors, and we are grateful that they recognize the value of this event for our students and the impact it has on their learning.”
